  1. Dear Mrs. Ranney and Class:

I am very proud of you for raising money for the children in Uganda. Not all students are lucky enough to have a big, fun playground like you have at Chaparral. I have made a donation to your cause on the website and I will walk with you on Friday. I have been walking the hills around school 2-3 times a week with some of the other Chaparral moms to get in shape!

    See you Friday!

    Sincerely,

    Suzanne (Leah's Mom)

  2. Dear Class Members,
I am so excited for the walk! I think I am ready for the walk. I hope it doesn't rain the day of the walk. That would be terrible. Actually, it could be fun and awesome if it rained though! We would be walking in the rain. Do you think if it rains we will get wet or do you think everyone will have an umbrella? I hope the people who are in charge of the walk don't cancel the walk. That would be a shame.

    Your Friend,
    Carly

  3. Dear Class Members,
I think it is very awesome that so many classes are working together to help a school in Uganda get a playground. I think we will be victorious in getting a playground for the kids in Uganda. If we are not triumphant that will be a shame. I really don't think we will fail. Of course we will probably succeed because so many classes are working together.

    Carly

  4. Dear Class Members,
I can't believe the walk is in two days! I am so excited! I wonder if everyone will be tired after we finish the walk. Will we take a rest after every couple minites or so? If we don't take at least one break than I will probably be so tired. I think it is so awesome that I get to be in a project like this one. I think it feels good to be helping other people.
I think the walk will be so much fun. I can't wait till we go on the walk. I wonder if all the people together will drink a gallon of water. I want it to be hot the day of the walk then I won't shiver.

    Your Friend,
    Carly

  5. Dear Mrs. Ranney,
I'm so excited for the walk. I hope we succeed and raise a lot of money for Uganda!
The way I trained is sometimes my sister and I run for about twenty minutes and I gain stamina. I think that would help me be able to walk for a long time. I hope it helps!
My favorite part about the Ugandan Global Project is uniting with people from Connecticut, Australia, and China. I also enjoy knowing that even though the walk might be tiring and hard I know it's for a good cause. I think even if we don't raise enough money(I hope we do though) the kids in Uganda will appreciate that we tried. I hope we are triumphant and we have fun!
I have raised some money by showing my grandparents and parents the flyer for the project. They thought it was interesting so they donated.

I have some questions for you:
What's your favorite part of the Ugandan Global Project?

How do you train for the walk?

    Do you like training?

Do you you think the kids in Uganda will appreciate our effort?

    Warmly,
    Jamie

  6. Dear Mrs. Ranney and class,
I have been running at soccer practices and games and walking at school and home to train.

I have collected $100.00 so far.

I love that I am joining students from other countries to raise money to purchase the playground.

    Warmly,

  7. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
I hope everyone donated enough money to get the Ugandan kids a playground. If we didn't get enough money[I hope we did though] I bet the Ugandan kids will still appreciate that we all tried. The way I practiced was running a couple of laps every other day. So I think I am all prepared for the walk. I think the walk will be fun. I think it will be really fun because my mom will be coming on the three mile walk with us. I think the walk will be very tiring but I think it is worth it to see what it feels like to having to walk three miles to school and back to your house. I wonder if the kids like to walk to school and back to their house. I think that they must really want to learn. I think it is awesome that we get to learn about how the kids in Uganda get to school and the way we get to school. These are a few ways that we get to school; bus, car, and walking except we don't walk three miles we don't normally even walk one mile. I am soooooooooooo excited for the walk on Friday!

    Yours Truly,
    Carly

  8. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I really enjoyed the walk on Friday. It was fun to walk with my friends and to sing at cul-de-sacs. But most of all, I loved that we raised money for the Uganda school. Knowing that we help other kids make me feel happy and proud.

How did you feel after the walk?

    Warmly,

    Ella

  9. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
I can't believe we did the walk! I think the walk was phenomenal! I loved the walk. It was everything fun can be! I think everyone got pretty good exercise. The thing I liked best was that at all of the cul-de-sacs we got to sing. I did not drink a lot of water though because I didn't want to have to go to the bathroom during the walk. I also didn't really need any water. It was good that I practiced my running a couple of laps every other day because if I didn't practice, then I probably would have been very, very tired. But because I practiced, I did not get tired one little bit. I still think the walk was so, so, so, so, so amazing!

I have some questions for you:

What's your favorite part about being in the Ugandan Global Project?

What's your favorite part about helping the kids in Uganda?

What was your favorite part about training for the Ugandan Global Project walk?

How did you train for the walk?

Did you like training for the walk?

Do you think the Ugandan kids will appreciate that we tried to raise money for them to get a playground?

    Warmly,
    Carly

  10. @Carly and Ella,
I really enjoyed our time together on the walk too! I felt exhilarated when we were finished! My favorite part of the walk was the fact that so many parents and even grandparents joined us. The opportunity to help people in need is the part of the Ugandan Global Project that has meant the most to me. I'm sure that the children at the ABC Divine School will feel very happy and appreciative to have a new playground.
Carly, you asked how I trained for the walk. I walk or hike, as well as bike, several days a week, so I felt quite ready for the big day!
Congratulations to both of you for a job well done!
    Warmly,
    Mrs. Ranney

  11. Dear Class,
I have some questions for all of you.

Did you have fun on the walk?

Did you get tired during the walk?

Did you drink a lot of water?

Did you talk the whole time?

If you did talk the whole time, who did you talk to?

    Warmly,
    Carly

  12. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
I think the way you trained was really awesome!

Did you get good exercise from doing your training?

Do you think the way you trained helped you do the walk?

    Do you think everyone trained?

Do you think everyone enjoyed the walk?

I really liked the walk! I think it was so fun! One thing I thought that was awesome was that we got to see some really awesome Halloween decorations. One of my favorite decorations was the one with the mummie tied on to a tree.

    Your Student,
    Carly

  13. @Carly,
You certainly have become the expert commenter! Yes, I think everyone enjoyed the walk! I know we all trained at school, and it sounded like many classmates trained on their own as well. I know that my training helped me a lot because the walk did not seem hard at all.
I enjoyed the Halloween decorations too. Most of all I enjoyed the fact that so many family members came with us.
    Keep up your great commenting!
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Ranney

  14. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
Thank you for saying that I am a great commenter. I wish that we could do another walk to sponsor some other kids. I have a question.

Do you think we will be doing something else that we will talk about on the blog?

I hope we will do something like that again!

    Thankfully,
    Carly

  15. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
It is Carly. I am so excited to see how much money everyone earns in all. I have a question.

Do you know how much money we raised in all?

I think that it feels very good after you help lots of people.

Do you think it feels good after you help people?

    Best,
    Carly

  17. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
I think that even though we did the Ugandan Global Project walk so long ago I still wish that I could do the walk again! I feel so heroic because we got the Ugandan kids a new playground and a new cafeteria . I think that the Ugandan kids really appreciate what we did for them. I was so surprised when I saw how many parents came to help do the walk!
    Yours Truly,
    Carly
