Happy Thanksgiving from Our Class!

This  week we had a wonderful time measuring and mixing up the ingredients
for our own loaf of pumpkin bread!

Busy Bakers! on PhotoPeach

In addition to creatively wrapping our bread to look like a turkey, we read a clever Thanksgiving fable this week about Thomas T. Turkey.
He had quite a dilemma to solve!

In the story, Thomas was invited to not one, not two, but three Thanksgiving dinners. Benjamin Bobcat, Fanny Fox, and Henry Hawk all told him they wanted to have him for Thanksgiving dinner and that it just wouldn't be the same without him!

In the end, Thomas decided he did not want to hurt anyone's feelings,
so he declined all the invitations! He ended up staying home alone
for Thanksgiving dinner.

We learned that it is better to eat alone than to be eaten!

After listening to the story, we created our own invitations for Thomas T. Turkey. He must have been overwhelmed by his sudden popularity this year!

We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Please leave a comment and share your thoughts about our projects.

Tell us what you will be doing to celebrate Thanksgiving this year!

Most of all, tell us what you're thankful for!

  1. Dear Class,

    I have some questions,

Where are you going for Thanksgiving?

Are you traveling somewhere else for Thanksgiving? I am not.

What relatives are going to be there?

Did the whole 3rd grade make pumpkin bread?

    Happy Thanksgiving,

  5. Dear Class,
You all did such a wonderful job on your projects this week! The pumpkin bread was especially tasty, and you decorated it beautifully.
I know you all enjoyed the story of Thomas T. Turkey, and I'm particularly proud of the clever ideas you came up with for your own invitations.
I am very thankful to have such an enthusiastic, hard-working class! In addition, as you know, I am very thankful for the fact that my own daughters are traveling all the way to California to spend Thanksgiving with me!
Have a terrific week with your families! I can't wait to see all of you on November 29th!
    All the best,

  6. Dear Mrs. Ranney and class,

I loved the baking project. I am going to eat the pumpkin bread tonight at dinner.

Tomorrow we are leaving on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving on the cruise.

I am thankful for my family, friends, health and that I am so fortunate.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

@ Mrs. Ranney I am happy your daughters are visiting. Maybe they can comment on our blog for family month.

    All the best,

  7. Dear Mrs. Ranney and Class,

Thank you for allowing me to bake with all of you.

I can't wait to try the pumpkin bread tonight.

I hope you all have a wonderful break and Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for my family, friends and our health.

  8. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I am going to have two amazing Thanksgiving dinners and then a birthday party. First, I will go to my aunt and uncle's house for Mexican food. Then, I am going to have a wonderful time at my cousin's house. Last but not least, I am going to a birthday party for my cousin Michael.

    From your former student,

I am going to have to go to my cousin's Bat Mitzvah. The day after that I have my cousin's birthday party at the ice skating rink. After that on Thanksgiving Day we all gather up at my grandma's house and eat. Then I might go to Oregon or Mammoth.

    From your former student,

  9. Mrs. Ranney and Class-
Thank you for letting me help make pumpkin bread! It was fun to be in the classroom and see everyone measuring, pouring, and mixing. It was quite a busy morning! I was amazed how quickly the bread was ready for the oven! Of course, I am really enjoying eating the bread.

I hope everyone has a terrific Thanksgiving!

  10. Hello Class,
I am having a great time on our cruise ship. We are on our way to Mexico. The cruise is fun and I am with Grammy, Grampy, Lily, Auntie Nadia, Uncle Brett, my dad, my mom, and Lucas.
    Have a good Thanksgiving!
    See you soon,

  11. Dear Mrs. Ranney

I love Busy Bakers! The turkey pictures were a treat! (Get it? A treat.) I enjoyed making all these projects for Thanksgiving.

I'm not doing anything for Thanksgiving this year. I was supposed to go to a friend's house but he's sick so I'm eating with my family for Thanksgiving dinner.

I'm thankful for my mom, dad, brother, and you!

    Happy Thanksgiving,

  12. Hi Mrs. Ranney and class,

It was interesting watching you and your class make pumpkin bread. Well done with the great measuring and mixing skills.
We live in Australia and have never had pumpkin bread. We have pumpkin scones instead.
Can you tell us what Thanksgiving is all about?

    from Ms. Tieppo and 2T

  13. Dear Class:

We just got back from our trip to Dallas, TX to spend Thanksgiving with Grandma and all our Aunts, Uncles and Cousins on the Scrantom side of our family. We have 13 family members in Dallas, so if you add in our family of 4, there were 17 people for Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's house! It was crowded, busy and loud but so much fun!

We defrosted the pumpkin bread and had it for breakfast yesterday. It was yummy!

Did anyone else besides our family and Aidan's family travel somewhere to celebrate Thanksgiving?

See you back at school tomorrow!

    Suzanne & Leah

  14. Dear Class,

I also loved seeing your pictures of making pumpkin bread. Guess what? We ate some of it at my mom's house and it was delicious! I decided to take Aidan's suggestion and comment on your blog. It is great! Love, Sarah (one of Mrs. Ranney's daughters)

  15. Dear Mrs. Ranney's class,

Like my sister, Sarah, I chose to follow Aidan's excellent suggestion. I am very thankful that she and I both got to spend time with our mom this Thanksgiving. I am also thankful that we had the chance to sample some of the pumpkin bread made by all of you. It was a perfect welcome-home breakfast for me when I came back from Istanbul! I appreciated it even more when I saw the photos of your hard work on making the bread. I hope you enjoy the rest of the holiday season and keep up the great work!

(also one of Mrs. Ranney's daughters)

    Your Student,

  17. Dear Mrs. Ranney and class,

On our cruise we went to Cabo San Lucas on Thanksgiving Day.

In Cabo San Lucas my Mom, Dad, Uncle Brett, Aunt Nadia, Lucas and I went on a dolphin encounter. We danced with, hugged and fed a dolphin fish.

My Uncle Brett bought me a Mexican Jets wrestling mask.

The food was yummy. I especially liked the french fries and mashed potatoes.

Guess what? I went to my cousins' house for a magnificent Thanksgiving. I got to see all of my cousins that are not my foes! The cousins I went to for Thanksgiving dinner live in Fullerton. Their names are Aaron, Amanda, Samantha, and last but not least Caden. Samantha and Caden are very young, so I enjoyed seeing them because they are so cute and playful! One thing that I noticed was that Aaron and Amanda have the same piano books as me. I also love to play with Aaron and Amanda because they are close to my age.

    Yours Truly,

  29. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! You told us that your daughters came home for Thanksgiving. I hope you had fun.

I went to Texas for Thanksgiving. We had a phenomenal dinner. My favorite part is sitting around the table with my family and saying what we're thankful for.

    I have a question:

What is your favorite part about Thanksgiving?

    Warmest Regards,

  30. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I LOVED listening to the Thomas T. Turkey story! Also, I thought that it was so exciting to make the cards inviting Thomas T. Turkey over to our house! Another thing that I liked was, listening carefully to hear the jokes in each invitation.

    Yours Truly,
