Lucky Hat Day, 2010

This week, Mrs. Ranney's class read "The Lost and Found", a story
in our anthology by Mark Teague.

The story is about three friends who get lost in the Lost and Found bin!
Their lucky hats bring them good luck at the end of the story.

* * * * *

For fun, we wore our lucky hats today!

There were many creative and very lucky hats!

There were pink hats with ducks and bunnies,

hats with painted polka - dots,

hats with stars and feathers,

cone-shaped hats of red and yellow,

and hats with flowers, feathers, and lots of flair,

Even Mrs. Yollis and Mrs. Ranney wore their lucky hats!

Our classes gathered for a big group picture to celebrate our luck!

Tell us about your lucky hat?

Whose hat did you like the most and why?

  1. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

My lucky hat has "hamsas" on it. They mean good luck and protection. It also has my lucky number on the back in standard and expanded form. It is 44 or 40+4.

My favorite hat is Grace's hat because it is funny.

  3. Dear Mrs. Ranney,
My lucky hat has lots of luck. The duck on the top is a lucky duck and it spreads the luck around the hat.

  4. Mrs Ranney,
I enjoyed seeing your classroom on Back-To-School night and hearing about all the great things your class is doing.

I love the pictures of Lucky Hat day! You have some very creative students. All my hats seem to be lucky because I am very blessed!

I hope you and all your readers are having a great weekend!

  5. Dear Mrs. Ranney,
I made a lucky hat from my sister's Bat Mitzvah. I put on a penny for good luck. I thought Grace's hat was though coolest.

  7. Dear Mrs.Ranney,

The pins spread luck on the hat. I had an American flag pin, LA Galaxy soccer pin, United Airlines pin, and a Crystal Cruises pin.

My favorite hat was Emily's because it was decorated with a toy spider and two kooky pens.

  10. Dear Mrs. Ranney and class,

I am from Mrs. Yollis' class.
I loved your hats on lucky hat day. I thought that your class did an excellent job. You decorated your hats with using feathers and other interesting things.
I especially liked Grace's hat because it had a lot of things on it, like feathers. It was also very tall and colorful.

I loved all of your hats!

I have some questions for you:

Did you like lucky hat day?

Mrs. Ranney, did you ever have a lucky hat day with your old class last year?

    Warmly,
    Alexa (Mrs. Yollis' student)

    Keep up the great commenting!

  13. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
I liked your hat made out of straw. I think it looks awesome. I have a question for you. Do you wear the same lucky hat for every lucky hat day? If you do then that means it is really lucky because it wouldn't make sence if you wore a different lucky hat for each year. Then it would not be your lucky hat because you would wear a different hat every year.

    Your Student,
    Carly

  14. Dear Mrs.Ranney,
It feels like lucky hat day was so long ago. But it was still really fun! I thought it was awesome because some people put awesome things on their hats like pennies, stuffed animals, scarfs, and money.

    Ghostly,
    Carly

  15. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

Lucky Hat Day was so long ago but it was still extremely enjoyable.

It will always be such a great memory. I will probably never forget all the creativity that everybody used to make their lucky hats.

I think Grace's was the most extraordinary because it was so big and it stood out.

    Regards,
    Jamie

  16. Dear Mrs. Ranney,
Even though lucky hat day was so long ago, I will always remember all of the amazing crafts everybody used. I think that lucky hat day was so incredible. I can't wait to see what the kids in your class next year will come up with! I think that Grace's was the best by far though. I liked Grace's hat because she made it with so much inspiration. I will always remember lucky hat day because of Grace's beautiful hat.

    Best,
    Carly
