  1. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I cannot believe that summer is over and we are back in class again!

This summer was a lot of fun for me. Being in Minnesota and swimming in Pelican Lake was a real highlight for me. It was very hot so the water felt great!

I look forward to another great year of blogging with your class! :-)

  3. Dear Class,
I had a great first day with you today and can't wait till tomorrow!
My summer was full of relaxation and adventure. One highlight was climbing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains to over 12,000 feet above sea level. The air was so fresh and clear. We even had to hike through some snow! Another highlight was visiting New York to watch my daughter, Sarah's dance performance. I definitely was a proud mom!

@Ella, I am so impressed by the fact that you have already gone onto the blog to leave a comment. Not only that, I am really impressed by how well - written you comment is. What a great model for the rest of the class!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Ranney

Over the summer my family and I went to Hawaii.
We went to the island of Maui. While we were there, we stayed in a house that if you walked out the backyard, you're on the beach! It was so much fun there!

  6. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

Welcome back to school. Summer really flew by.

I went up to Donner Lake for a week with my family. The culmination of the trip was the 30th Annual Donner Lake swim. A wonderful swim across the length of the lake (2.7 miles.) It was amazing!

    See you soon.

In my summer, I went surfing for the first time. I wore a wet suit. I was able to stand up and ride a wave.
I went to Costa Rica in the beginning of the summer. I visited a cloud forest and rain forest. I saw monkeys, sloughs, iguanas, dart frogs, and raccoons. I also went horseback riding and rafting.

I love to spend time outdoors. Like your family, I enjoy biking and hiking. Paths at the beach are my favorite places to ride my bike. For hiking I have many favorite places. I often hike different trails in Malibu Canyon, and most summers I do some hiking in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Even at home, I love to be outdoors working in my garden!
Keep up the great work, Mikayla!

I Loved learning what was a fad when you were a kid and when your daughters were kids. I also learned what was fad when my parents were kids. My dad said when he was a kid the rubic cube was a fad. When I asked my mom what was fad when she was a kid, she said that dittos were popular. When I meet new people I will be sure to ask them what was a fad when they were kids. I will be sure to ask all of my teachers what was fad when they were kids.

I noticed that the comment I wrote got lost on the internet so I am going to write a new one. Guess what? My aunt and uncle came to visit, and they are going on a cruise. I am also going on a cruise but not on the same cruise as them. I will get to see them though one time on the cruise, because we will be going to a place in Mexico, and we will get to see each other there.
I forgot to tell you their names. My uncle's name is Colin, and my aunt's name is Sue. They are from my dad's side of the family. Colin and Sue live in Austrailia with the rest of my dad's side of the family. Though, my dad's other brother lives where we do but about twenty minutes away.

  45. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I can't believe that it is halfway through the fabulous school year! I have had so much fun learning so far this school year.

One thing that I like about learning from you so far is that you made it really easy to learn the things that you taught us.

Another thing that I like is that if we had a long test you would let us play a fun game like, silent speed ball, or people bingo.

Most important was that I really like to have you as my teacher this year, I think that you were the best teacher I could have gotten this year.

Surely I have loved having a class blog and all of the things that I just mentioned.

  46. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I have Loved learning and doing all of the activities that we have done this whole entire year.

These are some of the things that I have enjoyed doing this year: Puppet Project, World Maths Day, Chumash information, Ugandan walk, Silent Speed Ball even though we do that rarely.

I enjoyed doing the Puppet Project because we got to choose any main character of any of the books that we have read that month. I really liked the fact that we could use yarn or little scraps to put on our Puppet Project. That is why I enjoyed doing the Puppet Project.

I Loved doing Wold Maths Day this year because I did it so much, and I played with so many people that I didn't know. I liked to play with some of the other people that I knew in the computer lab because I could see who would win out of us.

All of the things that we learned about the Chumash Indians were so fascinating! It was fun to go to the museum because we got to learn even more about the Chumash! It was really fun to learn about the Chumash and go to the Chumash assembly that we just had at school.

Wow, the Ugandan walk for the Ugandan kids was so long ago, but yet so fun! I am so happy that the Ugandan walk was a success because it was real hard work!

Lastly, I like playing Silent Speed Ball because it is such a fun game to play after a lot of hard work.

Those are some of the things that I enjoyed doing this year.

    Regards,
    Carly:)

  47. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

The school year has gone so quickly. The year has been sensational since the first day of school. I think you make school a lot of fun. I am looking forward to getting ready for open house. I thought you said that our Admire paragraph was going to be part of open house. Last year I went into someones classroom and saw they made paper people and put them on their chairs. What are some other things we will make or do for open house? My favorite part of the school year is open house, but then I have to be ready to say good-by to my teacher which would of course make me sad. The good think about it is that I can see my teacher around school. The think is that my first grade teacher, Mrs. Cirino got a pink slip. She got her job back, but she decided to teach at the school her two boys go to. I that case, I couldn’t see her around school but I invited her to swim at my house I my swimming pool, and about a few weeks ago I saw her at a ice skating rink. It was exciting!

I hope the year will stay like this.

    Your Student,
    Leah ☆

This school year has been so extraordinary! I love making all of the over-the-top projects that you assign us to do. Another thing that I wanted to say was that I adore examining all of the stupendous projects that my classmates have done!

One of my favorite things that we did this year was picking a biography subject, and being an expert on them. My biography subject is Robert Fulton, the one-of-a-kind person who invented the spectacular steamboat.

  52. Dear Mrs. Ranney and Class,

I cannot believe that the school year is almost over! This year has been a wonderful school year and I have learned so much. Some of the things I have learned are how to write proper clause and compound sentences, multiplication and division facts, and best of all how to blog. That isn't all I've learned, but those are my favorite things!

I can't believe it's already Open House. I am excited to share all of my work with my parents!

One of my favorite things is how much that my writing has improved. I remember when we were just learning how to write topic sentences and conclusions!

I can’t believe that the school year is almost over already! Another thing that I am so surprised about is that we don’t even have a month left of school, we only have about two weeks left! I am so sad that third grade is almost over, but I am so ecstatic about entering fourth grade!

This year, I have loved learning, and here are some of the things that I enjoyed doing over the past year:

Learning multiplication facts, division facts, adverbs, the metric system, standard capacity, learning about all different kinds of nouns and adjectives, milliliters and liters, learning how to divide words easier, learning about the planets, learning a lot about taxes and our government, higher level words, how to make your paragraph or story more interesting, different types of sentences: clauses and compound sentences, learning how to write in cursive, learn how to type, reading harder books than before, and lastly making a speech and diagram that goes with our biography person (Robert Fulton).

Those are all of the things that I enjoyed doing or learning about this entire school year!
