Happy Thanksgiving From Our Class!

We had a wonderful time measuring and mixing up the ingredients for our
pumpkin bread!

With the help of our able volunteers, our bread was baked.

After it was all baked, we wrapped it up, disguised as a turkey!

In addition, we read a clever Thanksgiving fable this week about Thomas T. Turkey. He had quite a dilemma to solve!

In the story, Thomas was invited to not one, not two, but three Thanksgiving dinners. Benjamin Bobcat, Fanny Fox, and Henry Hawk all told him they wanted to have him for Thanksgiving dinner and that it just wouldn't be the same without him!

In the end, Thomas decided he did not want to hurt anyone's feelings, so he declined all the invitations! He ended up staying home alone for Thanksgiving dinner.

We learned that it is better to eat alone than to be eaten!

After listening to the story, we created our own invitations for Thomas T. Turkey. He must have been overwhelmed by his sudden popularity this year!

We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

We enjoyed the pumpkin bread so much! Jake's uncles and cousins were here for Thanksgiving and loved it, too! The card that Jake wrote to Mr. Tom Turkey from Peter Panther was very creative! Such a funny story all made funnier by his greeting card!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a nice, restful vacation!

  12. Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and week off! A special thank you to Mrs. Del Carmen, Stephanie and Jessica, Cari and Sara, Carson, Cameron, Andrew S., Iyla, Natalie, the Bartoks, Andy, and Mrs. Binder for your comments! I'm so glad you've enjoyed your pumpkin bread and the story of Thomas T. Turkey.
Carson and Andy, you both asked about my Thanksgiving. This year was a very special one. My husband, his sister, her husband, and I spent our third Thanksgiving in Death Valley. When we have visited there before, we have eaten our Thanksgiving dinner at the Furnace Creek Inn. However, this year, we decided to try something different. We made our own food, set up our own table, and ate dinner outside in the middle of the desert. It was quite an experience!
The rest of the weekend was spent taking scenic drives and hiking. Death Valley is the lowest, hottest, and driest place in North America. With its spectacular geography, it is also one of the most beautiful. I'll show photographs in class during this coming week.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Ranney

  13. Dear Ranney,

My mom ate all the pumpkin bread! She did share it, but she ate most of it. I had a small slice, it was good. (Very good!)

We invited our cousins, Tommy and Danika for Thanksgiving. We got a 24 lb. turkey. We served it with cranberries, (yummy) and yams.

    From,
    Garrett

  15. Dear Mrs.Ranney,

I had a exciting Thanksgiving. I went to two houses for dinner. One of the houses was my grandma and another was my uncles. Almost everyone was there. When you went to Death Valley what foods did you eat for Thanksgiving?

I loved all of the delicious pumpkin bread that the class made! I hope we can bake more things this year. My family is going to bake another loaf of bread because it was great! My sister's pumpkin bread was not good because it had too much pumpkin in it.

Did you like the pumpkin bread, Mrs. Ranney?

  21. Dear Mrs.Ranney,

It was very exciting to cook for the first time at school in 3rd grade. The pumpkin bread was great. I still have some pumpkin bread. Do you still have some pumpkin bread Mrs. Ranney? I wonder if the Chumash Indians ate pumpkin bread.

    Regards,

  22. Dear Cameron,
Thank you for your comment. I actually made some more pumpkin bread during the Thanksgiving vacation! However, it is all gone now. We had a special party at our house, and many of my friends and family members enjoyed the bread. To find out whether or not the Chumash ate pumpkin bread, we'll have to do some research.
Keep up the good work with your comments.
    Yours truly,
    Mrs. Ranney
