  3. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I am super excited to be in your class this year. I am especially looking forward to learning about blogging. My older sister Ellie had a blog in 3rd grade.

Over the summer, I did many interesting things. The first fun adventure I took was a 20-mile hike up to Mount Hoffman in Yosemite with my dad and older sister. I carried a 15-pound backpack, which held my sleeping bag, clothes, food and water. It took us 4 days to complete the hike. My next adventure was visiting my Nana in Boston for a week over the 4th of July holiday. I got to meet my baby cousin for the first time and we saw two different fireworks shows. One experience I had over the summer, was completing the Junior Lifeguard program at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center. I loved it! I learned CPR and first aid and had fun field trips to Zuma Beach and Hurricane Harbor. The summer wouldn't be complete without soccer training. I have a new team with good players and a great coach. We will have our first tournament this weekend. I cannot wait to play with my teammates.

I am looking forward to starting 3rd grade tomorrow, meeting you and seeing who will be in my class.

    Sincerely, your new student,
    Caiti

  7. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I am so excited to be in your class this year. I can't wait to learn and have fun with you and new classmates. I had a great summer this year. First of all, my dad visited for 2 weeks. We went to California Adventure Park, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Santa Monica Pier. This time I could ride the Dragon Ride at the Santa Monica Pier since I am taller now. Also I went Camp Keystone. Twix and Marty Mcfly were my counselors at Camp Keystone. I did a lot of fun things at camp and got a license for Go Karts. Last, I had fun time with my friends, like sleepover, swimming, and camp out at the camp over the summer.
    See you tomorrow.

  12. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I had a great day today, and I know that we will have a great time all year. This summer I did a lot of fun things. First, I went to summer camp. It was really fun, and I did things like swimming in the swimming pool, bouncing in the inflatables, and going riding on the zip-lines. Also, I went to my first overnight campout. It was really fun. Second, my cousins from New York came to visit. We did fun things like going to Disneyland, Venice Beach, and I went to a place to learn how to make video games. Also, I went to Palm Springs to visit my grandparents. We had a great time. We took a tram up the mountain to a restaurant. When we were eating, they evacuated us because the mountain was on fire. Finally, when I got back from Palm Springs I got braces. The colors I got were pink and blue.

    Sincerely,
    Lexi

This summer, I did many fun things. The most fun thing that I did this summer was going to sleepaway camp. We played many sports like basketball, rugby, and a ropes course.

My name is Peter and I'm from Mrs. Yollis class. I love your post on The First Day of School. Frogger seems like a superior friend. Maybe Frogger would like to meet Panda over in Mrs. Yollis's room.

I look forward to meeting your class.

  47. Mrs. Ranney,

I played the Eword Game and Dog Bone last night. I also played Ghost Blasters Even because I really like math and any games that go with math. Thank you for giving us those links. I plan on playing more games on your site over the weekend.

    Sincerely,

    Kim

  49. Dear Mrs. Ranney,

I am very happy that Lexi has such a good teacher this year. Lexi came to visit us in the desert a few weeks ago. While she was there, we went up on the Palm Springs Tram. We had a very unusual occurrence. While we were eating at the restaurant on the top of the mountain, we were told to evacuate because the hill was on fire. It was a little scary, but fun (on the way up). I hope you and Lexi have a great year together.

    Sincerely,
    Carol (Lexi's Grandmother)
