In our polygon unit we are learning about four-sided figures called
QUADRILATERALS!
Quadrilateral just means "four sides"
(quad means four, lateral means side).
(quad means four, lateral means side).
Any four-sided shape is a Quadrilateral.
But the sides have to be straight, and it has to be 2-dimensional.
Many
people were confused about why some shapes have more than one name.
Here are some interactive quadrilaterals to help you explore and learn
more!

Hello Mrs. Ranney's class,
ReplyDeleteA square is a very special polygon. It is a quadrilateral with four equal sides and four right angles. A square is a rectangle with equal sides. It is also a rhombus with right angles. I see squares everywhere in my house like some of the boxes that holds the toys my brother and I play with. Some books in my bedroom are square shaped as well.

Ayden
