ReplyDeleteI am so excited to be part of your class! I had a great summer....I went to San Diego, Lake Havasu and Chicago. I also went to camp for a few weeks. I had the best summer ever!
See you tomorrow,
Hayley :-)
Dear Oliver and Andrew,
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed with how quick you were to comment on the blog! I also noticed that you both used correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Good for you!
Oliver, I would love to hear more about the Red Sox game and the other things you did while in Boston! That is a place I've always wanted to visit.
Andrew, Mammoth is a place I often visit while camping in the Sierras, but I've never been to the Bahamas. I'd love to hear more about what you did!
To my new class:
The highlight of my summer was my trip to Maui, which was absolutely wonderful! I snorkeled for the very first time and learned that I really love it. The numerous, colorful tropical fish thoroughly amazed me. We even swam with sea turtles!
A very special treat was getting together for dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Yollis, who happened to be on Maui at the same time as Mr. Ranney and me!
Another activity that I really enjoyed was a helicopter tour over west Maui and the island of Moloka'i.
Finally, a real highlight of the trip was traveling up to Haleakala Crater to see the sunrise. What a stunning sight!
Because we loved it so much, Mr. Ranney and I are already planning our next trip to Maui!
I can't wait to meet all of you tomorrow! We're going to have a great year together!
All the best,
Mrs. Ranney
Dear Hayley,
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed to see that you found the blog and commented so quickly. You also did a great job of writing correctly, especially remembering to capitalize all those names of the places you visited!
What a busy and exciting summer you had! I'd love to hear more about what you did in each place. I really enjoy visiting San Diego and Chicago, but I've never been to Lake Havasu. You'll have to tell me more about it!
I can't wait to see you tomorrow!
Mrs. Ranney

Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteI had a great summer. July 2nd, I turned 9. I had a sports party with all of my friends. I had a lot of baseball tournaments on the weekends! I play 1st base, pitcher, and shortstop. My first day of school was great. I can't wait for an awesome year.
See you tomorrow,
Dylan
Dear Mrs.Ranney,
ReplyDeleteThis summer I went to Maui, just like you. I did all types of fun things like snorkeling, swimming, parasailing, playing and climbing on rocks. My favorite activity was parasailing. First, we got on a boat. Then that boat took us to another boat. The second boat we launched off from into the air. We were going to go first but then another family got on the boat. Then my brother changed his mind and said he wanted see someone else do it first. When we finally had our turn, we were so high in the air. Have you ever been parasailing?
Your student,
Sydney
Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteToday I had fun in your class. I can't wait for tomorrow.During the summer I went camping at Kern River. I also went to Carbo San Lucas. I had a great summer!
Your new student,

Your student,
Oliver
Hi Everyone!

@Dylan, happy belated birthday to you! Your sports party sounds terrific. I also think it's great that you played in some tournaments this summer. How did your team do? What do you like most about playing baseball?
@Sydney, it's nice to know we have something in common - our trips to Maui! I love how you kept the conversation going by asking me a question! I've never been parasailing, but it sounds like great fun. I'll have to try it next time I go! What fish did you see when you snorkeled?
@Quynh Anh, your summer trips sound like a lot of fun. I love to camp, and I've camped at the Kern River before. If you remember to ask me at school, I'll show you a picture of me whitewater rafting on the Kern. I'd love to hear more about your trip to Cabo San Lucas!
@Oliver, it's great to see you here again continuing the conversation. I loved hearing about Joe's restaurant and the Duck Boat Tour. Are the boats actually shaped like ducks?
Well done everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Cheers!

Last year, I became an excellent reader and a frequent blogger. I had many friends and family members during the family blogging month (which was in November and April), comment from around the world.
This summer I visited my Uncle and Aunt in Connecticut. We also traveled to New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Ohio. We also went camping in an airstream to Pismo Beach and we visited the Hearst Castle.
Wishing you all a great school year with Mrs. Ranney.

Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteThis summer I went on a cruise to Haiti, Jamaica & Cozumel.
Don't worry the part of Haiti we visited was an island that was not destroyed.
My favorite part of the cruise was the free brownie shop that I could go to by myself.
I look forward to seeing in the morning.
Michael
Dear Mrs. Ranney and Class,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of your students from last year.
This year, more things have changed. First, we are divided into math groups based on our pace. I am in the accelerated group. My math teacher is Mrs. Krauss. Right now, we are learning about rounding one factor to find the estimated product. An example of this type of equation is one hundred twenty-one times five. We would have to round one hundred twenty-one to get the estimated answer.
Next, we have a science teacher who isn’t our regular teacher. Speaking of science, we just started chemistry one. We finished our first unit, geology. In chemistry, your students will learn more about matter. Have you learned that matter is made of atoms yet? If not, don’t fret, you will learn it next year.
Finally, we have longer stories in our anthology. When we read Tanya’s Reunion, we had to take a break from reading in the middle!
You might ask what I miss most about third grade, and the answer is you, Mrs. Ranney! You were so kind and you taught me skills that I need for this year.
Your former student,
Ell♥
Dear Mrs. Ranney,
ReplyDeleteLunch with you was so fun! You should do it again. I really miss you.
Love,
your former student, Ariel
