I agree the United States is a ...Dear Mrs. Ranney,<br /><br />I agree the United States is a unique country!<br />From the slide show quiz, I learned that the Continental Congress wrote the Constitution.<br />There are also some facts that I learned in Social Studies about our government. One is the three branches of our government. The President runs the Executive branch and he can either veto (reject) or approve the laws that Legislature writes. <br /><br />Another branch is the Legislative branch. This branch writes the new laws. Last but not least is the Judicial branch. <br /><br />The nine Supreme Court Justices work in the Supreme Court. They decide if the laws are fair and if they obey the Constitution. On TV, I have seen one of the nine Justices. Her name is Sonia Sotomayor. She was answering questions about her life and she mentioned that reading is very important. <br /><br />Our government is set up like this so not one part of it gets too much power.<br /><br />These are my facts about or national government. <br /><br />Does anybody else have any other interesting facts about our government?<br /><br />Your student that loves to find government facts,<br />AlexandraAlexandranoreply@blogger.com
